Tips For Sprucing Up A House For Sale

Clean, Clean, Clean you may want to hire a professional cleaning service to get all of the out of reach areas, such as high light fixtures or windows.  More importantly, make sure the bathrooms and kitchen are spotless!!!

Replace old and worn shower curtains, bathroom rugs, area rugs, and window treatments.  They don't have to be expensive, just new!  New accessories are more appealing to buyers.

Remove excess furniture and arrangements from every room.  Removing clutter makes the house look more spacious!  Have only the essentials in each room.  For example, in the living room, one sofa, one coffee table, and maybe a chair or two depending on the size of the room.  In the bed room have only a bed and maybe a night table with fresh flowers, and always make every room nice and bright!!!

Take all personal items such as family pictures and religious icons out of sight.  You want the buyer to imagine themselves in "their new home".

Appeal to the senses by baking cookies, or have warm vanilla or cinnamon scents throughout the house.  This makes the house more inviting.  Let's face it, who can resist a warm batch of cookies?

To get rid of stubborn smells such as smoke or pet odor, slap on a new coat of paint.  Remember lighter colors make the room look larger and brighten up the home.

The first impression is the most important!  Curb appeal is everything!!!  Manicure the lawn, freshen up the paint, and repair what needs repairing.  If the buyer doesn't like the outside, they'll never come in!

These are just a few simple tips for preparing your house inexpensively!  If you have a larger budget consider house staging.  This is usually done by a professional interior decorator or staging company.  They will "set the stage" for a faster sale, by appealing to the buyer.
